Kendall County Busted Booking Photos
A Kendall County booking record starts the moment someone is processed into the Kendall County Jail and Public Safety Center. The arresting agency sends over its report. Sheriff's Office Corrections then logs the intake. What the system builds can include a booking number, a photograph, custody status, bond entries, a housing assignment, and charge fields. Not every arrest gets that far. Someone cited and released by Oswego, Yorkville, or Montgomery police may sit in a municipal record instead.
The county's own Kendall County Corrections information describes the inmate search as a source of booking photos, charges, bond amounts, release dates, and the arresting agency. That roster is the natural first stop for a Kendall booking photo. It is a live agency system, though. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, protected, and citation-only matters take a different path, and no arrest carries a guaranteed public image.
Read the booking fields as a timestamped snapshot of intake. The case file that matters later lives with the Kendall County Circuit Clerk.
Each Kendall County arrest record has one job. The arresting agency describes the event. The county roster shows booking and custody. The court file holds the outcome, and Illinois Department of Corrections records pick up anyone who later enters state custody. Federal and immigration locators sit outside this chain entirely. A person can move through several of these systems while no single database rewrites the rest.
Kendall County Jail Activity by the Numbers
Annual jail reports offer local context. An operating statistic is not an arrest count. The 2025 report lists roughly 2,257 individuals processed, with an average daily population of 56. The 2023 report shows 2,406 processed and an average daily population of 81. "Processed" measures jail workload. It is not a tally of unique cases, a ranking of Oswego, Yorkville, and Montgomery, or anything else.
Those numbers come from the county's 2025 jail annual report and its 2023 predecessor. That is why one roster row can't stand in for the county's total arrest activity. For current aggregate figures, the Sheriff's activity dashboard is a separate official channel. The county says it refreshes several times an hour as activities close. It complements the person-level booking search rather than replacing it.
Kendall County Busted Record Fields
The Kendall inmate portal answers two different questions: who is in custody now, and who was booked before. Results can surface a photo, name, In Custody value, scheduled release date, race, gender, height, weight, and housing facility. Opening a detail record may add identity fields, aliases, photo date, booking history, bond and bail rows, charges, the arresting agency, offense and docket dates, court details, disposition, and sentence information. Fields go unfilled sometimes.
One distinction matters more than the rest. Some fields identify an event, while others describe the present. A booking date marks intake. A release date marks a recorded release. Current placement shows up better in the In Custody value and housing facility. A name match alone proves little, especially when the portal returns several booking histories for the same name.
| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Subject or booking number | Use the county identifier to separate people with similar names or multiple booking events. |
| Booking and release dates | Shows when the intake or release was recorded. A booking date does not prove current custody. |
| Photo and photo date | Identifies the booking image displayed by the official search when available. It is not a finding of guilt. |
| In Custody and housing facility | Helps distinguish current county custody, release, and a placement such as Kane County Jail. |
| Prisoner type and booking origin | Provides intake context and may show whether the event came through a particular agency or process. |
| Bond and bail fields | Shows recorded bond information. Bond is not a sentence or a final case result. |
| Charge, offense, docket, and agency | Connects the intake charge to the arresting agency and a possible court case. |
| Court date, disposition, and sentence | Points toward what happened after booking. Confirm the official outcome with the Circuit Clerk. |
An older county format, visible in the historical Daily Booking Activity Report, carried an incoming date range, booking date and time, booking number, name, address, and prisoner type. It documents how the county once published bookings. It is not the current roster interface. When a booking number and date will identify a record, skip repeating an address or other personal field.
Request a Kendall County Booking Record
Start with the live roster. A formal request earns its keep when a record is older, missing, hard to copy, tied to a specific booking photo, or simply held by the Sheriff rather than posted online. The Kendall County Sheriff's Records Division handles reports, citations, warrants, expungements, FOIA requests, and transmittals to police, courts, and Corrections. Walk-up business runs Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Find them on the second floor of the Cornell Lane facility.
- Identify the full name, approximate booking date, booking or subject number if known, arresting agency, and the exact item requested. Say whether the request is for a booking record, booking photograph, incident report, or another record.
- Submit the request through the county’s FOIA postings and GovQA route. The Sheriff’s printable form is a fallback, but the county’s current online process is the better starting point.
- Choose inspection or copies and ask Records to state any copy, media, certification, search, or redaction charge. The published $5 county fee is identified for crash reports, not as a booking-photo rate.
- Ask which exemption or redaction basis applies if an image or detail is withheld. A request response is not a promise that every record is public or that a photo will be delivered immediately.
- For a court outcome, use the Circuit Clerk rather than asking the Sheriff to certify a disposition. A booking record and a court record are held by different custodians.

Illinois FOIA gives a public body five business days to respond. A five-day extension is allowed for a listed reason. That framework promises an answer, not a delivery date. Kendall publishes no booking-photo fee or fixed online retention period in the reviewed material.
Illinois Law for Kendall Busted Mugshots
Illinois treats booking images as public records, but with strings attached. Under 5 ILCS 140/2.15, arrest-report information covers the name, age, address, any photo that exists, charges, the time and place of the arrest, the agency involved, and what happened to the person in custody. The statute says covered information must be furnished within 72 hours of an arrest. That deadline binds the record system, though. It is not a promise that Kendall's online roster will show a photo within three days, since the portal runs on its own workflow.
The same law allows some details to stay hidden. Disclosure can be withheld when it might interfere with an investigation, endanger someone, or undermine jail security. Juvenile matters fall under a separate confidentiality scheme in 705 ILCS 405/1-8. Protected addresses, victim details, sealed cases, and court-ordered restrictions also demand careful handling. So a missing photo can mean a disclosure rule, a technical gap, or a different custody system. It does not mean no booking ever happened.
Money and mugshots collide in 815 ILCS 505/2QQQ. That provision bars a disseminator of qualifying criminal-record information from charging a fee, or taking anything of value, to remove, correct, or modify it. It also builds a correction route for qualifying for-profit publishers who receive proper documentation. The exceptions are real. News-media categories, among others, mean the statute is not a blanket command to delete every accurate record.
When an arrest never led to a conviction, the legal fix is expungement or sealing, depending on the offense, the waiting period, and the facts. The Illinois Courts expungement and sealing packet includes instructions, case lists, orders, and a free Illinois Legal Aid Online form. Kendall's local Rule 8.25 offers a helpful court-procedure pointer. One caution: a court order governs the agency record. It cannot reach a news story, an aggregator copy, a saved screenshot, or a stale search result on its own.
Several publishers offer free removal routes, but they belong at the end of the line. Busted Newspaper publishes a no-charge listing form. Recently Booked and Mugshots.com each publish free policies for qualifying situations. Arrests.org, Mugshots.zone, and Public Jail Records had no reliable free route on offer. A paid middleman adds nothing to the official path. Nothing replaces a court order or an agency correction.
After a source actually changes, a search engine's outdated-content tool can clear the stale result. Index updates follow the correction. They never touch the source record itself.
View the Illinois arrest-report statute source before relying on a summary of the law.
Think of the statute text as a reference shelf, not a photo gallery. The agency record, any court order, and the publisher's current policy still decide what happens next.
Find Kendall County Busted Mugshots
Smart searching starts with knowing which record answers which question. The official roster tells you who is in custody and who was booked. The Sheriff's prior-day release archive explains many arrest events, though it is not a full list of new bookings. A city police newsroom may report an arrest that never becomes a county booking at all. Court files show what happened later. When an image or older booking is missing, a records request fills the gap.
- Search the Kendall County inmate portal by last name, subject number, booking number, or a booking-date range. Use the In Custody control only when current custody is the question.
- Read the result’s In Custody, release, scheduled release, and housing fields. A result can be historical or released, and the housing field can identify the Kendall facility or Kane County Jail.
- Check the Sheriff’s prior-day press release and the appropriate city agency channel for event details, destination, citation, or release context. A press release can exist without a booking photo.
- Check the Kendall County Circuit Clerk for docket and disposition information. A charge at booking is still an charge.
- If the person is sentenced to state custody or on parole, search Illinois Department of Corrections. If the question concerns federal or immigration custody, use the BOP or ICE locator instead.
- Use Sheriff Records or GovQA for a missing, old, restricted, or copy-ready booking record. Ask for one person, one date range, and one record type.
"Who got busted last night" can have several answers. One arrest might end in a citation and release. Another might mean a transfer, a county booking, or a state or federal hold. The source that logs the event is not always the source that shows the photo.
Where Kendall County Busted Mugshots Appear
Start with official sources. They name the custodian and the custody state outright. Secondary sites can help you find an older item or a news story. But they may skip a booking, duplicate one, keep a stale photo alive, or miss a later court result. None of that tells you someone is currently held.
| Channel | Photo or record? | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| County inmate search | Official booking photo when available, plus custody and booking fields. | Search by name, number, custody, dates, and housing facility. |
| KCSO press releases | Official incident and arrest context, generally no booking photo. | Use the prior-day archive for offense, time, place, action, and destination. |
| City police channels | Official arrest narrative or aggregate report; no current city photo roster located. | Use Oswego newsroom, Yorkville reports, or Montgomery releases, then verify with the county or city records unit. |
| IDOC offender search | State custody record with front and side photos for eligible public records. | Use only for state-prison or parole custody, not an ordinary county pretrial booking. |
| Circuit Clerk and FOIA | Official court disposition or requested agency record. | Use the Clerk for the case result and Sheriff or city FOIA for the record they hold. |
| VINE and federal locators | Custody or location information, not a county mugshot gallery. | Use VINE for notifications, BOP for federal custody, and ICE for immigration custody. |
| Secondary local sections | Unofficial photos, stories, or archived entries that may be incomplete or stale. | Check the official county and court records before relying on Busted Newspaper, Recently Booked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, Mugshots.zone, Public Jail Records, or news copy. |
The county-local sections list several secondary publishers. These include Busted Newspaper, Recently Booked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, Mugshots.zone, and Public Jail Records. Free correction procedures at some of those publishers come after a court or agency correction, never before. Nothing here is a gallery hosted by Kendall County Busted Mugshots.
Kendall County Jail Roster Search
The Kendall County Inmate Search is the county's main tool for a single person's record. It splits two searches. One covers current custody; the other runs a date range. That split keeps results clean. The county says bookings come back with photos, charges, bond amounts, release dates, and arresting agencies. Treat each image as a date-linked booking record.
| Search field | Best use |
|---|---|
| Name | Start with the last name, then confirm identity details in the record. |
| Subject Number | Find a person using the county’s internal identifier. |
| Booking Number | Separate one intake event from other booking history. |
| In Custody | Ask who is currently held. Do not infer current custody from a search hit alone. |
| Booking From / To Date | Find a 24-hour, 48-hour, 72-hour, or weekly window while allowing released rows into the result. |
| Housing Facility | Distinguish the Kendall County Public Safety Center from an out-of-county placement such as Kane County Jail. |
- Choose the narrowest useful identifier. A booking number or subject number is stronger than a common name.
- For current custody, use In Custody and check the housing and release fields. For recent bookings, enter both date fields and do not hide released rows.
- Open the detail record for the photo date, booking history, bond, arresting agency, charge, and court pointer. Record only the fields needed to identify the case.
- If no image appears, treat that as a disclosure or availability question. Ask Sheriff Records rather than assuming no photo was taken.
Kendall publishes no service level for intake-to-posting. There is no last-updated stamp and no fixed retention window for online rows. The portal can surface older released rows and booking histories. Still, the county never says how long a row or photo stays up. Ask Records whether an old item is still active, restricted, or covered by an approved records schedule.
Quick question: Does a result prove someone sits in the Kendall County Jail right now? No. Check the In Custody value, the release date, and the housing facility. A historical booking, or a person housed in Kane County Jail, can still surface through Kendall's system.
When Kendall County Busted Photos Appear
Kendall County gives you two different tools, and knowing the difference saves time. The inmate portal has Booking From Date and Booking To Date fields. Those fields make it the right place to test a recent window. The Sheriff's press-release archive works differently. It holds prior-day releases, and a given entry might describe a citation, a transport, or someone released before the roster was even searched.
Timing matters here. Illinois law addresses when covered arrest-report information must appear. But the county has never promised a fixed window from intake to an online photo. So skip any assumption that a photo shows up within a set number of hours. Ask a 24- or 48-hour question this way. Run the date range in the portal, check current custody on its own, then read the prior-day release archive for context. For 72 hours or a full week, the two portal date fields do most of the work, with the Sheriff archive as a date-by-date supplement.
One older document also exists. The Daily Booking Activity Report listed booking and incoming dates, booking number, name, address, and prisoner type. It is a historical document, not evidence that the same feed runs today. Keep the rule simple. A date window tells you when the county recorded the booking; the custody fields tell you whether the person is still held.
Kendall County Bond and Release Timing
Money posted is not the same as a door opening. The Kendall Sheriff FAQ allows bond to be posted at the Cornell Lane facility around the clock, yet the court sets the release condition and the amount, and the jail still has to verify payment, check for holds, and finish paperwork. That is why a booking row can display bond details while the person remains inside.
Three numbers deserve separate attention. One is the court-ordered bond amount. Another is any bond-taking or administrative fee. The third is the actual release date and time. County code material lists a $50 Sheriff fee for taking a bond, which is neither the bond itself nor a substitute for the court's conditions. Treat the portal's scheduled release date as a field, not a promise. Read the current In Custody value and the release date, then call the Sheriff when a live custody question truly matters.
Release timing is record-specific. No press release, scheduled date, or bond entry can capture every court order, detainer, transfer, or processing step.
IDOC Photos After a Kendall County Case
State prison is a different world from the county jail. Once a Kendall arrest ends in IDOC custody or parole, the county roster stops being useful. The IDOC offender search takes over from there. The public form searches by last name, IDOC number, or birthdate. Even a partial last name works. A result can show an IDOC number, parent institution, status, location, physical profile, admission and release details, and sentencing fields. Front and side photos appear for eligible current records.
One caution: an IDOC hit does not place the person in Kendall County. The state photo is not the county booking photo either. The state search mostly covers people currently incarcerated or on parole, so a discharged person may need a record-search request or an IDOC FOIA request. Send written requests to the FOIA Officer at 1301 Concordia Court, P.O. Box 19277, Springfield, Illinois 62794-9277. Phone, fax, and email sit on the state page. That page also notes a five-working-day response framework, possible extensions, and copying rates.
Open the official IDOC offender-search source when the custody question is state prison or parole.
State photos and Kendall County busted mugshots live in separate lanes. Match the record custodian and custody status to the question you are actually asking.
Kendall County Busted: Booked vs Released
"Record" covers a lot of ground. A person might be freshly booked, in custody, released, housed elsewhere, sentenced to IDOC, or held for a federal or immigration agency. The same name can surface in several systems at once. The comparison below keeps each state distinct.
| Custody state | Where to look | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked or intake | Kendall inmate portal, booking number, booking date, photo when available, bond, and arresting agency. | Booking is not a conviction and does not establish current custody after the first entry. |
| In custody | Portal’s In Custody value, current housing, and scheduled release fields. | A name in an old result is not proof of a current cell. |
| Released | Portal release date and historical booking detail, plus the court file. | Leaving the roster does not mean the booking record or photo was erased. |
| Housed elsewhere | Kendall portal housing field, which can identify Kane County Jail. | Booked through Kendall does not always mean physically housed in Kendall. |
| State custody or parole | IDOC offender search and, when needed, IDOC records request. | IDOC is not the county pretrial roster. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP inmate locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator. | Neither federal system is a Kendall booking-photo source. |
Some tools notify rather than archive. Illinois VINE sends custody and case alerts by text, email, or phone through VINELink and 1-866-566-8439, but it is not a mugshot archive. The Sheriff's Android and iOS apps serve as public-safety and tip channels. Neither store description promises inmate lookup or booking photos.
Kendall County Court Disposition After Booking
A Kendall County booking entry can hold plenty of detail. Expect the charge description, offense date, docket number, court date, courtroom, and any sentence information on file. But the jail record only tells part of the story. For the full court file, contact the Kendall County Circuit Clerk. Copies come through re:SearchIL, I2File, an in-person visit, or mail. The office sits at 807 W. John Street in Yorkville. The criminal division answers at 630-553-4183.
Court copies cost extra. The Clerk charges $2 for the first page. Pages two through twenty cost $0.50 each, and $0.25 after that. A certified copy runs $6 per page. A criminal history costs $4 per page plus a $6 certification fee, and a records search is $6. These are court rates only. Don't count on the Clerk printing a booking photo.
What happens after booking varies. A person might be released on court conditions, held for a first appearance or bond hearing, transferred elsewhere, or simply cited without any jail stay. The 23rd Judicial Circuit's local rules cover expungement petitions under Rule 8.25 and bench warrant processing under Rule 8.30.
Follow the case to its end. A police release, roster charge, or news story only shows where things stood on one day. For a dismissal, reduction, supervision outcome, or conviction, the court record is the only place to look.
Juvenile and adoption files do not open the way ordinary criminal records do. Statutes and court orders set the limits. Sealed records and protected victim details stay closed. Never publish a juvenile name or photo, and never read a missing adult image as proof that no booking happened.
Kendall County Juvenile and Restricted Records
Juvenile records are not a slimmed-down adult roster. The Illinois Juvenile Court Act sets the confidentiality and sealing rules. Kendall's court materials keep these matters separate from public criminal files. A search can come up empty for good reason. A juvenile case, a shielded address, victim information, or investigative detail may be withheld by law or by court order. Availability depends on the record and the statute, nothing more.
Missing adult photos happen too. The matter may be sealed or expunged. The image may simply be unavailable. Or the person may sit in a different custody system. When an office withholds something, ask for the legal basis instead of guessing. Anyone pursuing expungement or sealing should start with the Illinois Courts forms and the Kendall Circuit Clerk.
Never republish juvenile details. Adult booking rules give no license to post a juvenile's name, face, or case information.
Kendall County Jail History and Housing
The Kendall County Jail / Public Safety Center dates to 1992. Renovations came in 2000 and 2005. The 2024 Illinois Department of Corrections inspection counted 107 beds. The jail's housing field matters more for a live search. It can show someone at the Kendall facility or placed elsewhere, such as the Kane County Jail.
"Booked in Kendall" and "housed in Kendall" are not the same thing. The Sheriff's Corrections Division runs the local booking interface even when a person is held temporarily somewhere else. So read the housing, In Custody, release, and booking-date fields together. If an older photo stops appearing, ask Sheriff Records whether the record is active, restricted, or slated for disposal under an approved Illinois records schedule.
State rules matter here. Illinois State Archives guidance says local agencies cannot toss public records without proper authority, and its local-government FAQ counts photographs as public records. The Kendall IRAD listing names no modern booking-photo collection. A historical request should start with Sheriff Records, then check with IRAD or Northern Illinois University about an old jail register.
Open the Illinois Courts expungement and sealing source when the question is legal correction of a qualifying record.
A court form is only a procedural reference. A signed order, an agency action, a publisher policy, and a search-index refresh each come afterward as separate steps.
Kendall County Busted Mugshots by City
City pages follow the 2020 Census ranking, so population drives the order. Arrest frequency does not. Here's the wrinkle: municipal police often make the arrest, yet the county Sheriff creates the booking record once the person goes to the Kendall County Jail. A citation or a local release can stay entirely with the city department.
| City page | Local channel | Booking path |
|---|---|---|
| Oswego Busted Mugshots | Oswego Police Newsroom, 3355 Woolley Road, and village FOIA. | Custodial arrests commonly move to Kendall County Jail. No current daily city booking roster was located. |
| Yorkville Busted Mugshots | Yorkville Police monthly and annual reports, Police FOIA, and county-seat court context. | Custodial records ordinarily flow to the Kendall roster. The reports are aggregate, not a named daily list. |
| Montgomery Busted Mugshots | Montgomery Police News Releases and municipal Records/FOIA. | Some arrests are processed and released locally; custodial cases may enter the Kendall roster. |
Oswego, Yorkville, and Montgomery share Kendall's dispatch system through KenCom. Their records still differ. For an arrest report, go to the city agency. For a county booking photo, use the Sheriff's roster. Local news adds narrative, but nothing replaces the official record.
